Department of Zoology

Introduction

The teaching programmes in the Department are focused on proper blending of 'quality' and 'relevance'. This is sought to be achieved by periodic updating of syllabi in conformity with the advancement of the knowledge in the subject with equal emphasis on theoretical and applied economics. Department introduces new courses from time to time and makes tutorials more effective by establishing close student-teacher contact. The research programmes give special attention to economic problems of the country. The thrust areas include the various fields of Development Economics, Economic Growth, International Economics, Financial Economics, Agricultural Economics, Environmental Economics, Industrial Economics, Health Economics, Monetary Economics, Labour Economics, History of Economic Thought, Public Finance, and Population Studies.

PROGRAM EDUCATIONAL OBJECTIVES (PEOs) of B.Sc. Zoology Programme

PEO1. Our Graduates acquire basic knowledge in observation, study of nature, biological techniques, experimental skills and scientific investigation. They understand the unity of life with the rich diversity of organisms and their ecological and evolutionary significance.

PEO2. Our Graduates will have knowledge in basic and modern concepts that cater the day to day needs and advancements in zoology.

PEO3. Our Graduates apply their knowledge in various branches of Zoology that enable them to undergo higher education and research with holistic, spiritual and ethical values.

PEO4. Our Graduates will have training exposure in skill enhancement courses, internship and clinical laboratory techniques.

PROGRAMME SPECIFIC OUTCOMES (PSOs)

The purpose of teaching zoology at various levels, from undergraduate to doctoral programs, is to create professionally qualified zoologist who could look for better drug designing, drug targeting through different tool and technique, biologically active natural products, molecules with anticancer activity, innovation in waste management, and contributing to reduce environmental hazards.

PSO11. Attain the basic knowledge of the Zoology concepts and principles, various studies related to the Zoology and other biological sciences.

PSO2 2. Demonstrate the procedural knowledge via various laboratory experiments and practical examination.

PROGRAMME OUTCOMES (POs)

Programs outcomes are attributes of the graduate of the program that are indicating of the graduate ability and competence of work at science professional. The program outcomes also reveal the situation what students are expecting to know or able to do by the time of post-graduation. The students must relate to knowledge and skill which acquire during the program. After completing the Zoology courses the graduate will be able to
